kastellorizo
Kastellorizo is, together with Kythira, the holy grails of island hopping. Isolated from the rest of Greece with more than 120 km to its nearest neighbour Rhodos, Kastellorians go shopping 3 km away in...Turkey!  Kastellorizo is a small, yet beautiful island. It's only 9 km2 and has aprox. 250 inhabitants during Winter. Come Summer, no doubt the most common greetings here are: "G'day mate" and "Buon Giorno". The Greek-Aussies are coming "home" from Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Italians and many others return to scout locations from the Italian Oscar-winning movie "Mediterraneo" filmed on location on Kastellorizo back in 1991. A GREAT movie, by the way. This tiny island truely is GOOD ON YA MATE! Once you have spent a few peaceful days here, you will only have one thing on your mind: To come back! When you do so: try staying at the Kastellorizo Hotel in perfect rooms, eat at Monica & Damien's restaurant or at Alexandra. Elma and Vangelis make the greatest coffee at their Radio Cafe on the sunny east side. Eat fresh fish just landed by Kostas  himself in the early morning hours - just next to Radio Cafe. Kastellorizo...mmmmmm.....
